Today, I wanted to highlight something a little different. It’s a feature we’ve had in Trade Ideas for a long time, but I decided to revisit it today: the Count Alert feature.
Now, the market has been pretty challenging lately. A lot of stocks just aren’t showing those nice, sustained trends we like to see. But today, I found a really interesting example with AMX (América Móvil).
The idea behind the Count Alert feature is pretty simple. You’re looking for stocks that are consistently making new highs throughout the trading session. The more frequently a stock hits new highs, the more interesting it becomes when you’re searching for sustained momentum.
Two stocks that stood out today were AMX and SDEV. Both were showing impressive strength, but SDEV was a bit more volatile, so I decided to focus on AMX.
And what a beautiful trend it had!
When I first noticed AMX, it was trading around $24.00. From there, it continued climbing steadily, eventually reaching approximately $24.53 before finally pulling back.
Now, that’s not some massive, explosive move, and I’m not going to pretend it is. But that’s exactly what I liked about it.
Sometimes you don’t need a stock that’s flying all over the place to find a good trading opportunity.
AMX offered a much smoother, more consistent move compared to some of the highly volatile stocks we’ve been watching lately.
And frankly, that can make for a less stressful type of trade.
The takeaway here is that sometimes it’s worth revisiting tools and features you haven’t used in a while. Our Count Alert feature can help identify stocks that are consistently making new highs, even when the broader market isn’t providing many clean trends.
Not every great trade has to be a rocket ship. Sometimes a steady climb is exactly what you’re looking for.
