OMER: Finding Short Opportunities in a Choppy Market

OMER: Finding Short Opportunities in a Choppy Market

Hey everyone, Barrie Einarson from Trade Ideas with today’s edition of What Makes This Trade Great?

It’s been a pretty difficult day in the market, guys. I’m just not seeing a lot of stocks giving us those nice, sustained trends to the upside. On a day like this, sometimes it makes more sense to start looking for opportunities on the short side.

Now, that doesn’t mean you can just short anything and expect it to work. You still have to be selective and pay attention to the price action.

One interesting opportunity our AI picked up today was OMER.

Our AI generated a short alert at $16.76, but as you can see from the chart, the stock was pretty choppy around that level. It actually popped higher after the alert, so if you were patient and waited a little, you might have been able to enter the short at an even better price.

From the original $16.76 alert, OMER eventually dropped to around $15.90 before bouncing back.

That’s a pretty decent move, especially considering how difficult the overall market has been.

Of course, it wasn’t a perfect trade. The stock bounced as the broader market started showing a little strength, but then selling pressure returned.

And that’s really the point I want to make today.

Not every trade is going to be a beautiful, clean setup. Sometimes the market is choppy, momentum doesn’t last, and you have to work a little harder to find opportunities.

Our AI helped identify a potential short in OMER, but managing the trade and staying aware of the broader market conditions were just as important.

Right now, patience and flexibility are key. You can’t force a trade just because you want to be in the market.
