Let me walk you through what happened.

The Setup

Our AI flagged a short opportunity on XMTR at $51.92. This was an earnings play, which always adds a layer of excitement — and volatility. Sure enough, in that very same candle, the stock popped up and hit the stop at $53.47. If you had taken the trade immediately, you would have been stopped out. Full stop. That’s the risk.

But here’s where it gets interesting.

The Re-Entry Changes Everything

Instead of chasing or walking away frustrated, I always like to wait and see if a stock offers a re-entry. And XMTR delivered beautifully.

That blue line you see on the chart? That’s the midpoint — basically halfway between the original entry price and the stop. Watch what happens when price comes back to that level. My goodness.

From the re-entry point at $52.81, this stock dropped all the way down to $43. That is a tremendous move. We’re talking nearly $10 per share on the downside.

Managing the Trade

Yes, the stock pulled back along the way — but even that wasn’t the end of the story. If you had taken some profits off the table during that first leg down, you would have been in great shape to hold the rest of your position through the continued move lower.

The trade essentially gave you two bites at the apple:

  • First leg down — a great opportunity to lock in partial profits
  • Second leg down — rewarding those who held on

The Takeaway

If you have access to Trade Ideas AI, please — use the re-entry feature. This XMTR trade is a wonderful example of why patience pays off. The initial stop-out can feel discouraging, but the re-entry turned what looked like a losing setup into a standout trade.

Don’t let a first stop-out keep you out of a great idea. Let the stock come back to you.
