Barrie Einarson here with another edition of What Makes This Trade Great. I usually don’t focus much on short setups in my videos—but when I saw this one on CDNA, I couldn’t pass it up. It was just too clean, too logical, and frankly, too compelling not to share.

The Setup

This trade came right off the Combo Scan, which many of you already know combines two powerful filters:

1. Option Activity
2. 10-Day Daily Breakout

This scan was designed by our talented scan-builder Pepe, who’s consistently been a powerhouse contributor to the Trade Ideas community. He stacked together the logic from multiple strategies to surface trades that are actionable, even when news is scarce.

And that’s exactly what we had with CDNA.

Why It Caught My Eye

At around $11.92, the scan lit up. CDNA was breaking down under the $12 level, and although there wasn’t any specific news available, there were rumors about negative guidance. That’s often enough to get the institutions moving early—and that’s where we step in.

What’s notable here is earnings aren’t even due until August 12th, so this kind of movement is often telling. We may not have had a headline, but the market was clearly speaking.

Why the Execution Was So Good

What I loved most about this trade was how orderly it was on the 5-minute chart. There were no wild spikes or fake-outs—it just gradually broke down from the $12 level in a clean, controlled way. This makes it easy to manage, especially for those of us who value structure and low-stress entries.
