What Makes This Trade Great: Testing the Go No Go Scan

Aug 19, 2024

Hey traders, Barrie Einarson here with today’s edition of What Makes This Trade Great. Today, I’m excited to give you a sneak peek at a scan we’re currently working on. Now, I have to say upfront, this is still in the testing phase, so I can’t give you a timeline for when it’ll be available, but trust me, it’s looking promising. The scan leverages the Go No Go charts, an add-on that some of you might already be familiar with. If not, don’t worry—drop by the trading room, and I’ll walk you through it. Here’s how it works.

The Go No Go chart uses color coding to signal trade opportunities. The orange bars are your warning sign—they mean, “Don’t take the trade.” It’s not that the stock won’t move, but the system doesn’t see a clear advantage either way. For instance, you might see the orange bar, and then the stock pops, but the risk was too high for the system to give it the green light.

Now, here’s where it gets interesting. When the chart transitions from orange to cyan, it’s telling us things are getting more favorable. But when we move from orange directly to blue, or with only one cyan bar in between, that’s when things get very bullish. In our testing, these transitions are proving to be powerful indicators.

Let me give you an example. We got an alert right at $7.42 on the close of the candle, and this stock shot up to $9 before pulling back. Now, of course, not every trade will play out like this, but the concept we’re developing is to catch those high-probability moves right as they transition from a “No Go” to a strong “Go.”

This particular stock was super active due to news around monkeypox, which we spotted in the pre-market, so it had some serious momentum behind it. But the beauty of this scan is that it’s not dependent on news—it’s about finding those key transitions on the chart.

So, if you’re interested in learning more about this scan and how it could fit into your trading strategy, come join me in the trading room. I’ll be breaking down all the details and showing you how we’re fine-tuning it for maximum effectiveness. Check out my homepage for more information.

Thanks for tuning in, and as always, trade well!
