Trade Ideas with Dan Mirkin (08/24/10)

When you are trading, you want that action but it sometimes doesn't happen the way you want. It's the patient trader that has the advantage. Dan modifies his typical layout to show how his focus is on exploration. The first window is liquid stocks that are trading a million shares or more. On the left, there is a Think or Swim chart. The top window is used primarily for tape reading. Dan goes over weekly and daily columns which is the breadth of the market. This helps Dan visually gauge what is going on. MRVL is green and is up for the year but the last three months it's been getting "killed." Dan transition to the Think or Swim chart and shows how to link it by dragging the crosshairs. The bottom window shows stocks that are printing an unusual amount. You can let technology help you by splitting up your information stream into relevant ways where you can see what is going on. You want to jump in when the odds are in your favor. Pullbacks from lows show interesting data. If you manage the trade well, you can be totally wrong and still do okay. Technology can make you more efficient.
