NR-7 (Narrow Range 7) Alerts

Hi. Today we're going to learn about the NR-7, the narrow range 7th bar alert, and create a strategy that we like to call, "skating to where the puck will be." To start,we go to the Trade-Ideas website or Trade-Ideas Pro to begin configuring our strategy. First, I select my alerts. In this case, the NR-7 alert. Next, I choose the filters to create the universe I want to trade in. This universe will look at all long candidates. So, I am going to be looking for stocks with a bias to the upside. I'm also going to set a market directional filter so that all of the opportunities only present themselves, if for instance, the S & P is up or the last 15 minutes by a certain amount. After I've selected my filters to create my universe, I give my strategy a name. Then I hit "ok." The market is yet to open, but if I wanted to see the history of this strategy, I click on "History." And thats how we skate to where the puck will be: the NR-7 alert. click on the icon to get a further definition of what this alert means.

A demonstration of Trade-Ideas by @TradeIdeas1

Hi. This is Dan Mirkin and I want to welcome you to my desktop. You may know me as TradeIdeas1 on Twitter and StockTwits where I often post many of the trade set-ups that I use through research and through trading all throughout the day. Today, what I want to show you is a brief glimpse of my desktop and the tools that I use when I'm working with our automated trading robot and how I work around the system. Basically, what you see here is a combination of different tools. On the upper left-hand corner, what I'm using is the QuoteTracker market view window where I am able to see everything that's going on with the market. I'm able to see the indicies and just follow things visually from the numbers that I'm watching. Underneath there, you see the open positions that I've gotten into through the robot today and through some discretionary manual trading. And here, you can see all of them together. The ones that where you see a multiple mean that this is completely automated and the robot is entering buy orders, profit targets, and stop losses together. Where you don't see that, like in this JDSU and NANO, those are trades that I've gotten into manually. Underneath, you see my Trade-Ideas robot P & L screen. I have an unrealized profit of $31 and I have realized $100. Over to the right, you see the execution panel. And so what that means is that any time I see something come across here I can simply type in JDS Uniphase (JDSU) and quickly see what the bid and ask is and place my trade. I also have a running summary of my open positions and this lets me know that most of my open positions are positive but I do have some losers and I can quickly see where they're at. They are also labeled with this little green unrealized P & L arrow, and here they are. So, this is a quick view into my desktop and this is just designed to give you an idea of how i utilize the software as I'm working with it. Again, notice at the bottom of this open positions monitor, I really have the ability to work around some of the stocks that I'm trading. I can basically double down, I can cut positions in half. If I wanted to get out of everything, I would simply select, "All," and then hit, "Flatten," which would send orders out to get out of everything at once. I'm not going to do that now but I just want to show you guys that the key to trading a lot of times really is making sure you're able to manage everything. Notice that I'm not even looking at the charts because I'm trusting the Trade-Ideas setups before I get into them. I know the kind of stops and the patterns that I'm getting into. So, what I'm doing once I get into them, is really just managing my money and that's the key. I don't really care what the charts are telling me because I've done the research ahead of time, I don't need to second guess myself. And what I'm doing now is just letting money management take over. As long as this open P & L is staying green, I know that I'm doing well. I appreciate you taking a look at my desktop. This is just a quick example of how we do business.
