July 1,2 Swing Trading using the Trade-Ideas Automated Trading Robot via TDA brokerage

Good morning traders. It's important for everyone to understand that although when one thinks of automated trading technology they typically think of making many trades in and out throughout the day. But that's not always the case. The majority of investors still consider holding periods of a day to a week to be short term trading. This type of trading is typically called, swing trading. We're now starting a series with our automated trading robot that focuses on swing trading. In this particular series, we're showing how one uses automated entries and exits to compliment a more traditional active trading style. Conceptually, there are a lot of similarities. In order to find the right strategy, we took ideas that we previously utilized in our intraday trading and applied them to build a swing trading strategy. We also used new recently added filters that are designed to pinpoint longer term trends in this swing trading strategy. In addition to using new filters, the OddsMaker has been modified to allow users to backtest multi-day holding strategies. Whereas before, you were limited to getting in and out of a position the same day or the next open. Here's a picture of the new OddsMaker configuration screen. Please note the section of the OddsMaker where you are able to set the hold time to multiple days. In this particular strategy, we are holding the position for two days, but we ran into the 4th of July holiday, so they will see us manually exiting the strategies a day early. We are going to show more of these swing trading style videos to give our automated traders a different perspective on automation and longer term trading.
