This lesson will cover in detail, the features and functionality of the Trade-Ideas Pro application toolbar. In this lesson, you will learn how to: Log in to Trade-Ideas Pro Reset your connection Open new and existing alert windows Manage your layouts Create and modify symbol lists One-click linking with other financial applications Modify Trade-Ideas global properties Get help on Trade-Ideas Determine which version you are running The first thing the toolbar provides is immediate feedback as to the current status of your connection with the Trade-Ideas servers. The circle on the Toolbar is either one of three colors. A green circle means that you are connected to the servers. A yellow circle means that there is a problem, but we are automatically retrying. A red circle means that the software has given up and the user must intervene to fix the problem. Additional information present on the toolbar is the username you are logged in including how many days are left before your subscription needs to be renewed. The first menu item on the toolbar is FILE. Under this menu option, you can log into your Trade-Ideas account. Additionally, you can also create a new account, activate an account or request a forgotten password. The next choice is RECONNECT. Use this option to quickly reconnect to the Trade-Ideas servers using the previously stored username and password. Double-click on the green, yellow or red circle to achieve the same effect. The second menu-set under FILE allows you to create a new alert window as well as load previously saved windows. The third menu-set facilitates saving and restoring layouts. Each time you save your layout, you are prompted for a unique file name for easy future retrieval. The next menu item on the toolbar is TOOLS. The first option allows you to create and modify symbol lists. These symbol lists can be used to define a particular stock universe or can be used as an omit list to ensure symbols present in your list are not considered as possible alert candidates. The interface is quite intuitive. To modify a list, click on the list and select Edit List. To create a new list, press the Create New List button. In a similar fashion you can rename, delete or copy a list. If you just want to add or delete a few symbols, you can do it from the Quick Add/Delete option at the bottom of the window. Select the list to be modified, enter the symbol and choose the action. Your updated list will be dynamically available. The next option on the TOOLS menu is External Linking. External linking seamlessly connects Trade-Ideas to most financial services products enabling one-click linking of symbols between the applications. After selecting this option, The Setup External Linking window is displayed. Drag the cross-hairs to the application you wish to link. After a successful link, a new line item appears in the bottom panel of the Linking window. This window can now be closed. The last option under TOOLS is Option. Choose this to modify some of Trade-Ideas Pro's global defaults. The first selection allows the user to define whether the external linking is activated by a single or double-click. With the context sensitive help option checked, anytime you click on a Trade-Ideas Pro alert or filter icon, whether in an alert window or in the configuration window, a help page will spawn providing clarification of the alert or filter definition. The Time Zone option allows users who have not properly updated their system clock to the recent daylight savings time modifications to experience synchronized time-stamps in their respective time-zone. The last option under General allows you to display or not display grid-lines in your alert windows. The icon below General is Connection. Choose this if you are experiencing connectivity issues with your network or firewall. Select the HTTP Tunneling option if you are still unable to get connected to the Trade-Ideas server farm. Additionally, if your network utilizes a proxy-server, enter the information here. The Update option ensures you are always prompted to download the latest version of Trade-Ideas Pro if you are on an outdated release. Finally the Layout option allows you to set default layout configurations. The last menu item on the toolbar is HELP. This option provides quick access to a variety of help resources such as online help, OddsMaker help, User's manual, Video help and frequently asked questions. Click About to determine which version of Trade-Ideas pro you are running.
