The symbol list window allows you to view and modify your personal symbol lists. Typically, you will limit the symbols in a window by either using window specific filters or by selecting from your own symbol lists. Though you can use both together, but you usually don't want to. Just clear out these settings so you will see all the symbols on your list. But you don't have to clear them all out. Only the ones you don't want to use. One of the most common ways to use the symbol list is to create a bear watcher window and attach that to your long positions. Now, I will only see things which are moving against my positions. Of course, this is only useful if I update this list in a regular basis. I buy the Q's, add them to the list; buy Dell, add it to the list. Duplicates are okay. They don't do anything. You can also edit the entire list at once. This allows you to make a lot more changes more quickly. It also allows you to copy and paste the entire list. This allows you to copy it, for example, into Excel or from Excel, or you can save or load these from a file. Create a new list from scratch, or you can copy from an existing list. Delete or rename a list when you need to. Refresh from server is useful if you forget to log out and you make changes when you go home. Normally this is done automatically when you first start. But that way you don't have to close the application and restart it if it has been running all night. You can attach a window to multiple lists at the same time if this helps. You can also make a list that has just one symbol. The common question is how do you attach a window to a single symbol. You make a list with just one entry. You don't need to view this window at all times. It's useful if you are constantly going to be adding or deleting symbols. But the system will work fine with that minimized or hidden. You can bring it back at any time.
