This lesson is an introduction and overview of the Trade-Ideas TD Robot for TD Ameritrade. This software allows you to automate your trading strategy created in Trade-Ideas through your TD Ameritrade brokerage account using the QuoteTracker trading platform. Once it is installed launch the application by clicking on the QuoteTracker desktop icon. Now load the Trade-Ideas Auto trading Robot for TD Ameritrade. From the menu bar, click on tools, then select Trade-Ideas auto Trading Robot for TD Ameritrade. This will open an authentication screen. Enter your TD Ameritrade login name and password at the top, followed by your Trade-Ideas username and password below. Click start the Robot. Please read the disclaimer that comes with the software. If you have read the disclaimer from your broker, your data provider, or the exchanges then you already know that trading is risky. Trading software can fail in any number of ways. We are not licensed financial advisors, we are not recommending the purchase or sale of any security, and we cannot be responsible for trading losses. The strategies shown in this video are only demonstrations of the software, and should not be used as trading recommendations. If you do not agree to the terms of the disclaimer, do not use this software. Now you can see the main window. Notice that there are tabs at the top that you can use to see different controls. We will review each of these. The main tab allows you to bring up other windows. We will discuss each of these in more detail shortly. The next section shows you your P&L. It updates in real time. It only shows the P&L for today. Next you can see the status bar for your Trade-Ideas data. This works just like the status bar in TI Pro. Finally, you can see the help button followed by your TD Ameritrade account name and number. The next panel shows all orders and cancels going to the TD Ameritrade server. The following panel shows error messages from the TD Ameritrade server. Let’s add some messages so there will be something to see. Here I’m buying Google. The Outgoing Messages tab has changed color to let me know that something new is available in that tab. Now you can see the details of your order. Notice that the tab is no longer highlighted. It is only highlighted when there is new data. Now I’m going to try to sell Dell. But I don’t own Dell, so I’m going to get an error message. A new message appears in the Outgoing messages tab and the Error tab is not highlighted, indicating new information is present. We can see the second order request, and we can see the error message. This is especially important when the robot is automatically trading. If the robot cannot place an order, it is up to you to review the situation and take any required action to fix the problem. I am now going to cancel the previously placed Google order using the Active Stocks Window which we will discuss in the Active Stocks video lesson. The Config tab contains configuration settings that can automate your entries and exits. Some people want The Robot to automatically buy or sell the stock as soon as they get the entry signal signal, because this is the fastest option; but they want to watch the stock themselves to decide when to close the position. Some people want to manually confirm each new signal. Some people want the system to exit for them automatically. This concludes this video overview of the Trade-Ideas Robot for TD Ameritrade.
