HOLDRSHOLDRS is short for HOLding Company Depositary ReceiptS, and is pronounced "holders". HOLDRS are AMEX products similar to exchange traded funds. HOLDRS are securities that represent an ownership in stock or depositary receipts of a specified group of companies. The most popular of these are the Semiconductor HOLDRS (SMH), the Biotech HOLDRS (BBH), the Oil Service HOLDRS (OIH), and the Software HOLDRS (SWH).
